Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Store Cleaner role, candidates must have:
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- At least 6 months’ cleaning experience.
- Sound command of the English language.
- Basic customer service skills.
- An additional language relevant to the area.
- Willingness to work flexible retail hours.
Advantageous:
- Previous retail store cleaning experience.
- Bilingual ability.
Job Responsibilities
As a Store Cleaner, your main duties will include:
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the store, including the shop floor, stock room, canteen, admin office, and dispensary.
- Developing cleaning routines to keep all areas spotless before store opening and throughout operational hours.
- Ensuring canteens and restrooms are stocked and maintained.
- Using the correct cleaning products and equipment for specific tasks.
- Displaying the wet floor sign when required for customer and staff safety.
- Being professional, approachable, and available to assist customers when needed.
- Performing duties in line with Health and Safety regulations.
Competencies
Essential:
- Prior cleaning experience.
- Strong English communication (written & oral).
- Customer service skills.
- Trustworthy, honest, and reliable.
- Good time management and ability to follow instructions.
- Attention to detail with a presentable appearance.
Advantageous:
- Retail store cleaning background.
- Ability to speak more than one language.
Special Conditions of Employment
- Must be willing and able to work retail shifts.
- Physically fit for walking, standing, bending, lifting, and other cleaning duties.
- Must have reliable transport or live near the Linton Corner branch.
- Must be a South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record.
