Job Opening: Learner Fire Fighter at City of Cape Town
Eligibility: Internal & External Closing Date: 13.02.2023 Reference Number: SS 07/23 Ext Salary: Basic Salary – R189 127 per Department: Fire Services Directorate: Safety and Security
Requirements:
- Grade 12 qualification (Mathematics and Physical Science preferred)
- 18 years or older
- No fear of confined spaces or heights
- Medically and physically fit
- Ability to work in a team and handle stressful situations
- No criminal record
- Successful completion of Firefighter 1 NFPA 1001, Hazmat Awareness NFPA 1072, Hazmat Operations NFPA 1072 and First Aid Level 3 courses.
Key Performance Areas:
- Pass compulsory fitness test (Reach test, 2.4 km run, Push-ups, Sit-ups, Dead load carries)
- Pass written assessment and interview
- Submit fingerprints or identity numbers for criminal record check
- Undergo City medical evaluation
- Pass compulsory drug test at City testing center
- Pass claustrophobia and acrophobia test
Special Conditions:
- Non-permanent contract position for duration of training
- Appointment to permanent Learner Fire Fighter position upon successful completion of training programme
- Required to wear uniform and protective clothing
