Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this General Assistant Job, you must have:
- Minimum Grade 10 (NQF Level 3) with 1 year related experience, or
- Grade 12 with no prior experience
- Must be able to speak English and the main language used in the area fluently.
- Valid South African ID or valid work permit
- Basic numeracy and ability to perform simple calculations
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Capable of handling high-pressure situations common in retail settings.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Assist and advise customers on products
- Handle and resolve customer queries and complaints promptly
Merchandising Standards
- Stock shelves according to layout and planograms
- Maintain full merchandising in your assigned area
- Ensure proper bulk stock display and safety
Housekeeping
- Keep your area clean and obstacle-free
- Ensure correct price labeling on shelves
- Complete canteen and toilet/shower checklists as required
Safety (OHSA) Compliance
- Use safety gear appropriately
- Keep aisles and bulk areas safe for staff and customers
- Report hazards or stock issues to Store Manager
Stock Loss Management
- Notify the Store Manager of any damaged or potentially unsafe stock immediately.
- Monitor and minimize stock discrepancies
