The Examination Assistants/Quality Assurers will support the smooth administration of exams, verify scripts, and maintain quality standards throughout the marking process.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Senior Certificate or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
  • Currently registered as a tertiary student or unemployed person with one or more tertiary qualifications
  • Strong numerical skills (Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy at Grade 12 level required)
  • Second-year or higher tertiary students preferred
  • Previous experience as an Examination Assistant/Quality Assurer is advantageous
  • Able to handle multiple tasks effectively under pressure while consistently meeting strict deadlines.

Note: Individuals writing National Senior Certificate / Senior Certificate or AET examinations in 2025, participants of VSP, and employees elsewhere may not apply.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Examination Assistant – Exams District & Head Offices

  • Receive, verify, manage, and scan examination scripts daily in the role of an Examination Assistant/Quality Assurer.
  • Pack scripts for marking according to batches, subjects, papers, and sessions
  • Address discrepancies regarding received scripts and marksheets
  • Ensure each bag contains two copies of the MP Flow control list and is properly labeled with the designated marking venue.
  • Assist with dispatching scripts to marking venues
  • Indexed archival of scripts after marking for easy retrieval

Quality Assurer – Marking Centres

  • Receive, control, and distribute scripts to marking teams as an Examination Assistants/Quality Assurers
  • Ensure correct number of scripts and marksheets per batch
  • Verify that all questions are marked accurately and marks are correctly transferred to marksheets
  • Reconcile, control, and arrange scripts numerically for archival after marking
  • Assist marking teams with resolving discrepancies and ensure quality standards are maintained
