The Dis-Chem Store Driver will ensure all deliveries are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule, supporting the operational efficiency of the Witbank store.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate
- Valid Driver’s License
- Own reliable transport
- South African citizenship
- Ability to work retail hours
- MIE, no criminal record, clear credit rating
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Dis-Chem Store Driver , you will:
- Safely transport products to customer locations in a timely, courteous manner
- Ensure temperature-sensitive items are delivered first, using insulated boxes and ice packs for proper storage
- Use the shortest and most efficient routes for deliveries and returns
- Return to the store immediately after deliveries for multiple trips per day
- Prevent stock or vehicle damage by repacking the vehicle after deliveries
- Take full accountability for all damages and losses during deliveries
- Handle fragile and hazardous products with care
- Comply with minimum standards of efficiency and accuracy set by Dis-Chem
- Follow delivery/pickup instructions from management
- Ensure collections, store returns, and inter-branch transfers are accurately checked and signed
- Confirm delivery paperwork is signed and correctly processed
- Maintain accurate customer details before departure
- Process payments via EFT and cash options
- Ensure the delivery vehicle is never left unattended and is regularly cleaned
- Inspect the vehicle for defects before, during, and after trips and report concerns
- Report accidents or incidents involving the driver or company equipment
- Adhere strictly to road traffic rules and accept responsibility for any fines
- Build effective relationships with customers to improve operational efficiency
- Uphold professional behavior when dealing with customers as a Dis-Chem Store Driver
Competencies and Skills Required
- Knowledge of retail operations and administration
- Ability to identify problems and escalate appropriately
- Basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Clear verbal communication skills
- Ability to address customer questions promptly
- Understanding of procedures and commitment to following them
