Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the SAPS Student Trainee Programme, you must:
  • Be a South African citizen (ID required)
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Possess a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
  • Be fluent in English and at least one other official language
  • Be physically and mentally fit (subject to SAPS medical evaluation)
  • Submit to a psychological assessment
  • Have no visible tattoos when in uniform
  • Have no criminal record or pending charges
  • Be willing to work anywhere in South Africa
  • Not have been dismissed from government employment for misconduct
  • Be willing to undergo full SAPS training
