Minimum Requirements

  • A Degree in Pharmacy accredited by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
  • Registration with SAPC as a Pharmacy Intern Northern Cape prior to starting work.
  • Applicants must be South African citizens and adhere to employment equity principles.

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Thorough knowledge of Pharmacy legislation, National and Provincial Health policies.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and professionalism under pressure.
  • Computer literacy and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Understanding of quality management, Good Pharmacy Practices, and Occupational Health & Safety standards.
  • Ability to contribute to the training and development of pharmacy staff and healthcare workers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow Pharmacy policies, procedures, and control expenditure under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist.
  • Assist with training pharmacy and health staff, supporting public health promotion efforts.
  • Manage medicine procurement, storage, and distribution ensuring quality and safety.
  • Provide pharmaceutical care including prescription assessment, medication dispensing, and patient counselling to ensure compliance and therapeutic effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate leadership by proactively solving problems and maintaining compliance with National Core Standards.
