Job Overview
South African National Parks (SANParks) invites applications for Semi-Skilled Environmental Monitor positions within the Biodiversity Social Projects Environmental Monitor Programme at Agulhas National Park. This is a fixed-term contract running until 31 March 2026. Successful candidates will report to the Section Ranger / Ranger Sergeant and will be paid R208 per day as per the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) rates.

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / NCV Level 4 (Standard 10)
- Interest in working in a nature conservation environment
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and after hours
- Good physical health for field duties (medical fitness required)
- Understanding of basic Health & Safety principles
- No criminal record (SAPS verification required)
- Computer literacy (advantageous)
- Basic firefighting training (advantageous)
- Age preference: 18–35 years

Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Semi-Skilled Environmental Monitor position entails the following:
- Assist with management of tools, equipment, vehicles, infrastructure, herbicide, stock control, and asset management
- Manage in-field administration including timesheets, H&S checklists, logbooks, and reports
- Monitor and record resource management data
- Handle and resolve conflicts, providing support and motivation to contractors
- Assist with fire management and related duties
- Fence integrity monitoring and basic maintenance
- Ecological monitoring, restoration, and invasive alien species clearing
- Waste management reporting and programme support
- Participate in community and environmental awareness programmes
- Assist with conservation activities as required
- Perform ad-hoc duties when necessary
