Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Nightshift Controller 2025 role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong understanding of fleet and route management.
- Proven experience in a logistics, transport, or operational environment.
- Knowledge of Freightware systems will be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Nightshift Controller 2025, your responsibilities will include:
Operational Management
- Supervise and monitor drivers’ attendance, absenteeism, and site staffing levels.
- Oversee loading and preloading of vehicles to ensure on-time dispatch.
- Coordinate all driver-related requirements with the Labour Broker and Regional Manager.
- Accurately capture driver hours on weekly wage reports.
- Manage fuel-related processes, including refuelling, card usage, and fuel consumption tracking.
- Ensure all vehicles meet fleet standards as per the SEC Manual.
- Plan and control daily routes, vehicle loading, offloading, and documentation handovers.
- Handle accident claims, product claims, and breakdowns according to procedures.
- Communicate regularly with the Account Manager regarding operational activities.
- Debrief driver trip sheets and verify them with vehicle tracking reports.
- Conduct vehicle inspections, COF checks, and workshop bookings.
- Manage driver documentation, including PDPs, licences, medicals, and certifications.
- Monitor issuance and use of PPE and uniforms.
- Ensure all vehicles have functional tracking systems and report faulty units.
- Maintain site housekeeping standards and a safe working environment.
- Perform monthly tyre surveys and panic button tests.
- Verify that all loads are secure and compliant before dispatch.
- Ensure vehicle keys are locked away securely after each shift.
Administrative Duties
Prepare and complete all operational reports, including:
- Daily Occurrence Report
- Utilization Report
- Absenteeism Report
- Fleet Checklist and Workshop Reports
- Weekly Site and Cluster Reports
- Fuel Consumption and Tracking Reports
- Management Reports on STOs, average loading times, and out-of-area trips
Customer Service & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Monitor and achieve customer KPIs and service-level agreements.
- Compile and present operational reports and proactively highlight challenges.
