Minimum Requirements

  • NQF Level 1 or ABET Level 4 certificate or equivalent.
  • No prior work experience required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and under supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of hygiene and safety procedures.

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Knowledge of catering support and food service procedures.
  • Ability to handle kitchen utensils and equipment safely.
  • Awareness of hygiene, food safety, and quality control measures.
  • Time management and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and prepare for HOD meetings.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean kitchen utensils and maintain kitchen equipment.
  • Provide catering support services and prepare food, snacks, and beverages.
  • Keep kitchen stock of utensils, food supplies, and beverages updated.
  • Apply hygiene and safety measures in food preparation and service.
  • Serve refreshments to the HOD and HOD’s visitors.
  • Maintain stock registers and report waste or losses.
  • Set up crockery, cutlery, and equipment for dining areas.
  • Dispose of garbage and ensure cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.
  • Contribute to a professional and hygienic environment as part of the Food Service Aid Job in Gauteng team.
