Minimum Requirements

Key Responsibilities
Participants in the Dispensary Support Learnerships will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and assist with various pharmacy duties.
Pharmacy Operations Support
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances.
- Assist with the compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicines according to approved procedures.
- Assist with unpacking and merchandising stock in the dispensary and OTC shelves.
Medication Preparation and Dispensing
- Learn to interpret prescriptions accurately within legal requirements set by the South African Pharmacy Council.
- Assist with picking, packing, labelling, and checking medication.
- Ensure medications are verified and signed off by a pharmacist.
Stock Management
- Assist in managing stock levels of medicines from Schedule 1 to Schedule 5.
- Monitor shelf cleanliness, stock organisation, and expiry dates.
- Report low or out-of-stock items to the dispensary manager.
Customer and Patient Support
- Follow up with patients regarding prescription tracking and appointments.
- Assist with call centre scripts and patient service calls.
- Provide basic information to individuals to promote health awareness.
Administrative Duties
- Assist with scheme authorisations for chronic medication, HIV and AIDS treatment, and oncology medication.
- Receive dispensary stock according to company standard operating procedures.
